EMS, in general, is a stress inducing line of work. There are sirens, bright lights, tones and overhead announcements every day. It's an overstimulation to the nervous system and drives anxiety, a type of on edge feeling, at times. Our calls are categorized by what we may have to deal with. Cardiac arrest means death, overdose means danger, sick person can mean anything. At the end of the day I do love my job, I help people, I’m there when they need me, they call and I answer. More so recently I've stopped to think

what toll this is taking on me, how is this affecting my personality, how am I approaching life, and am I allowed to say that I'm suffering as well?

Love,

K.
